Poem Generator v1.5

Due to lack of Internet for the past 3 days, I have already skipped over v1.0, which was very rudimentary and had very few words.

This version of the Poem Generator knocks out some real "winners." It still has a very limited vocabulary, most categories have less than 50 words in each.

However, the difference between v1 and v1.5 is the start of the development of an AI engine that recognizes when words need to be capitalized (Proper Nouns), a color alone needs a modifier, and certain nouns also need a modifier either before or after the word.

The program is well commented, and I wrote it as simple as I could so it may translate better to other dialects.

There is also a bug where in the title the modifier tags are not working consistently. I will be looking at that for a minor revision.

Planned release 2.0 proposed modifications:
  • The next release (v2.0) will add word associations, so that only specific modifiers can be applied to a noun, before and after.

This is the start of the AI learning grammar rules and syntax.

Other enhancments may included a weighted system for words and possibly a theme index certain words that do not go together will stop appearing, and the theme of the poem will stay on track.

Any bug fixes will also be done here if it hasn't been done in a minor release.
Here is one of the better poems it has generated. As its vocabulary grows and the AI picks from the right modifiers, the poems should start making some sense. This was generated
before I had added the Date/Time stamp.

That darkness
By George McGinn

All of the hatred might be serene
Her morning could be understood
His morning would have been enchanting
I knew that the sadness might be artistic.

His love could have been false
He knew that the sadness had been confusing
She knew that the love had been fortunate
Their darkness had been confusing.

That expression had been serene
She knew that the frustration could have been interesting
He knew that the hatred would have been a friend
All of the frustration had been true.

Their anger had been fortunate
My frustration was true
Everybody's sadness could be understood
All of the frustration will be his.

I am a big fan of computer-generated poetry, so I will enjoy this. Thanks, George. 8-)
