Hi, on the "Database" topic i typed a very long response to rbytes, apparently without logging in. Upon "submit" i got the message that i should login. I did, and all text was gone
Is the text still somewhere? In "concepts" somwhere, i spent more than an hour on it  .

Ah man, that's annoying. I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope Mr K. can dig up some cache data or something. I've gotten into the habit of always selecting all and copying before submitting because of that kind of thing. I also have a plug-in for my Firefox browser called 'Lazarus Form Recovery' that allows you to hit the back button and miraculously fills in all the fields from browser cache. Best of luck. :(

That's too bad, Henko. It is easy to do, unfortunately. I wonder who on the Forum we can complain to about constantly getting logged out. I have the box checked for Remember Me, but I have had to log in 3 times just since yesterday.

That's odd, I NEVER get logged out. But I also keep a tab open to the main forum page, It's not set to refresh though. That at least would make more sense. Perhaps it's a browser issue? I'm using Firefox v50.0.2 in macOS.

The only place the message could stay is a browser cache. I would suggest to roll back in browser history as soon as this happened - it could stay where you just typed it.
As for me I have a habit to copy my text to clipboard before any submitting, because internet connection can suddenly break or something other happen.
Also, any forum has a time limit before it disconnects an idle user, even if you are replying in a topic. So, don't spend too much time when replying after entering reply topic mode. If you are unsure you are still connected, then copy your message to clipboard before posting.

Thanks all for the good adviseren. I normally prepared larger posts using "Notes" and then copy/paste it into the forum. Just this time i didn't and the moron mr. Murphy applied his law. As for logging in and out all the time, I have the feeling that i leave one of the ports open in my system by not logging out. Is it dangerous or not to remain logged in?

Dangerous? Call me careless or brave, I just don't consider myself important enough for a hack. I suspect if I ever was hacked, they'd just laugh at my pitiful bank account and move on. Heck, they might even deposit a pity donation.

If you close your browser then it closes its open ports.
Logging in or out the forum has its meaning only for the forum - whether you are required to re-login next time or not.
