I wasted my time and yours. Sorry about that.

I can see where the dropbox implementation is a big help to many people and it's a cool feature. However, I've never been a Dropbox user and have very much enjoyed smart Basic without it. I admit It has been a challenge grabbing files from other peoples projects off dropbox. I sometimes have to download them all to my PC first, then run a server on my PC and use HTML commands to grab/save each file into smart Basic over my wifi. Sometimes I put my files on my webspace and grab them from there instead.

I will work without it for a couple of months, and refine some of the ideas that have been posted for exporting and importing various types of files. I hope at the end of that time I can prove that Dropbox isn't really needed, and that we would be better off getting SB updates to keep up with iOS changes.
a Man-on-Mars project
sounds very heroic

No more testing of transfers.

Thanks richard for the pioneering work to an SB without Dropbox
In this respect, I find it strange that the "MakeInstall" program viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2030 has received no attention. It offers the possibility to transfer and install a complete folder as a text file. ;)

Thanks

I have all of these programs and refer to them constantly. You have done some great work in this area. Too bad no one is offering us free web space to use these ideas.

Actually I have looked at it and the D&B Browser, somecode I've written that execute scripts on websites and downloading files, and some other programs to help me to design the program or programs to pull source from both the public repositories and some things I have written using my own web server.

Yours, Dav's, Henko's, rbytes and others have been very helpful.

What I am writing will be involved, large, and I will not release it with bugs of any kind. That's the way I write code. If it isn't ready for production use, I don't post it. But I will post it in phases as I finish them if downloading issues are now such a priority.

I had offered many times when my servers were doing nothing for quite a long time, and I had no takers. You used parts of my server I did set up but quickly stop using it. Everything else worked, just not some of the new scripts I was writing.

When I get my machine back online, I'll offer it again. We'll see if interest is any different.

Your server stopped working for me months ago, and I moved on to other projects.

I think a host site would be a great service to Smart Basic users, but it has to be reliable. I don't think you should have to bear that cost alone, but good for you if you are willing.
