SB 5.9 to "new" BASIC file transfer

Post by Chooch912 »

Before I commit to spending $11.99 for the "new" BASIC, I want to be sure I can easily transfer all the files I have in my current SmartBasic 5.9 folders to the new app.

I am not as experienced as the majority of the members and saw a post about SB 5.9 not working on iPad after the 14.6 update, so I am not updating my iPad to 14.6 until I know how to effect the transfer. I read a few posts about using "Dropbox" but I don't see saving to Dropbox as an option in SB 5.9.

I'm hoping there is an easier way other than opening each file, "selecting" the complete file, "copying" it, then "paste" it somewhere like NOTES???

Can someone PLEASE help me?

Dropbox files transfer does not work in smart BASIC 5.9?

Also the similar topic was discussed here:

Why did you put a ? after your comment- "Dropbox files transfer does not work in smart BASIC 5.9?"?

Does it work and you are asking me why not or is that a statement that it doesn't work and in error you put a question mark?

What are my options to transfer files because the link you posted is extremely confusing and doesn't give a definitive way to move files?

Question mark means a question. Did you try to use Dropbox in smart BASIC and got an error?
Dropbox was working in smart BASIC v5.9.

In that link there is an exact solution which you could use. Some 3rd party applications do exist which allow to download files from smart BASIC to computer.

How do I get the files to Dropbox? I don't see any option in SB to get them there?

The BASIC command "OPTION DROPBOX ON". This is documented in the Settings manual section.

Thank you! As I mentioned, I am pretty much a beginner and never thought to look for a command to put files in Dropbox. I was looking for something similar to the "Delete", "Paste","Cut", "Copy", etc choices at the bottom of the main screen.
