Reinstall of Smart Basic on new iPad

Smart BASIC application is discontinued and is not available anymore in the App Store.

Smart BASIC was replaced with "BASIC: programming language" application which requires a separate purchase.

I recently purchased a new iPad and I no longer have access to SmartBasic (which I purchased for $4.99). As much as I enjoyed playing with SmartBasic I am wondering what the improvements/upgrades are which would require me to purchase the new Basic! at a cost of $11.99. This is a huge increase for a retired person on a fixed income and rapidly increasing inflation here in the US. Can you please provide me with what changed? Thank you.

BASIC v.6 was updated to support the latest iOS version.
Files transfer implementation was redesigned: Dropbox support was removed, iOS file sharing feature was added.
