Hello. Do I need to backup all the files in my current app before upgrading, or will the files be preserved during an upgrade?

Files will be preserved as long as you don't remove the app. Update is no problem.

I think that a 'Browser' is very well suited to act as label object. With HTML-tags color can be set, text can be given the desired look and it has no borders
